Winning For Women Action Fund Poll Finds Mace Has Twenty-Point Lead Over Primary Challenger

Poll shows Arrington has failed to gain traction despite Trump endorsement
May 31, 2022

WASHINGTON, DC – Winning For Women Action Fund (WFW AF) released a new poll that found U.S. Representative Nancy Mace (SC-01) has a twenty-point lead over primary challenger Katie Arrington. Winning For Women PAC endorsed Mace in June 2021.

“Across the board, Mace is running out ahead,” said Winning For Women Action Fund. “Voters know Mace, they trust her, and are ready to send her back to Congress. This poll makes clear that, even with the former president’s endorsement, Katie Arrington has failed to gain traction and win over South Carolina voters.”

Three weeks out from the election, Mace is clearly ahead:

  • Mace has a twenty-point lead over Arrington: 44%-24%. Mace is ahead across the district and in every ideological subgroup, among men and women, and those with and without college degrees.
  • After being given more information on Arrington, Mace’s lead widens to 29%. When informed of Arrington’s votes in the State House to raise taxes and spending, voters reacted negatively.
  • Mace has higher favorability: she is favorably viewed by 54% of likely primary votes. Arrington’s favorability is 33%.
  • Voters recall more positive sentiments towards Mace than Arrington. Mace is associated with “conservative,” “pro-military/veterans,” and “immigration.” Arrington is associated with “lost election” and “classified information.”
